Privacy Policy

Tabo is a network for farmers, and we treat information the way a good neighbor treats it: with care and respect. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It is written in plain language because your data should not need a lawyer to understand it.
1.Information We Collect
We collect the information you give us and the information created when you use Tabo.
- Account information. Your name, username, region, contact details, and your role in the network — farmer, buyer, cooperative, or support role.
- Your posts and activity. Posts, comments, reactions, and messages you send or receive through the platform.
- RSBSA documents. When you apply for RSBSA verification, you upload supporting documents. We keep these to confirm you are a registered farmer, and only staff who handle verification can see them.
- Usage information. Device type, app version, and how you use the service — which features you open and how the app performs on your phone.
- What you search for and ask the assistant. The words you type into search, and the questions you ask our in-app farming assistant, are recorded so we can show you better matches for what you need and see what the community is asking for that nobody is offering yet. We keep those words for 30 days. After that the words are deleted, and only the anonymous count stays — for example, “42 members searched for this in June” without keeping what any one member typed.
2.How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the network to work and stay healthy:
- To run Tabo. Show your posts in the feed, connect you with buyers and cooperatives, deliver your messages, and keep your account working.
- To verify farmers. Review RSBSA documents so the network knows which producers are registered and can be trusted.
- To improve the service. Study how members use Tabo so we can build better features for the farming community.
- To suggest people and posts. When you save, comment on, or open posts, Tabo uses that to suggest members and listings similar to what you already engage with. This is why a “recommended” row can say it matches what you have shown interest in.
- To keep everyone safe. Detect spam, fraud, and abuse, and act on reports from members.
3.Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Not now, not ever.
- Public posts are public. What you post to the feed is visible to Tabo members, like a bulletin board at the public market. Think before you post.
- Messages are private. Direct messages are between you and the people you message, and are encrypted while traveling over the network. We never store the content of your messages in the usage records described above — only the fact that a message was sent, which counts toward the anonymous activity totals. Staff cannot read your messages from those records.
- Limited service providers. We work with a small number of providers that help run Tabo — hosting, email, and analytics. They only get the data they need and must keep it confidential.
- When the law requires. We may share information to comply with a valid legal request or to protect the safety of members and the platform.
4.How Long We Keep Information
We keep different things for different lengths of time, on purpose:
- Your account and your posts. Kept for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove them.
- Searches and assistant questions. The words are kept for 30 days. After 30 days the words are deleted automatically and only an anonymous count remains.
- Moderation records. When content is removed or a violation is recorded, we keep a record of what happened and why. This protects the community and lets a member ask for a review. Violations stop counting against a member after 90 days.
- RSBSA documents. Kept while your verification is active, so we can confirm your status if it is ever questioned.
5.Data Security
We protect your data the way you protect your harvest — with care and preparation. Your information is stored on secure servers, encrypted while traveling to and from the app, and access to sensitive documents like RSBSA files is limited to staff who genuinely need it.
No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach ever affects you, we will tell you promptly and explain what happened and what we are doing about it.
6.Your Rights
Your information is yours. You can:
- Access it. Ask us what information we hold about you.
- Correct it. Fix errors in your profile, region, or contact details.
- Delete it. Request account deletion and removal of your personal data, subject to legal requirements. Self-service deletion is not yet available in Settings — email us and we will process your request.
- Export it. Request a copy of your data in a format you can use. Self-service export is not yet available in Settings — email us and we will prepare it for you.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within a few working days.
7.Cookies
Tabo uses small files called cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the app is used. This keeps the network fast and your session secure.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Some features — like staying signed in between visits — may not work as smoothly without them.
8.Children's Privacy
Tabo is for people 18 years and older.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and the platform is not directed at children. If you believe a minor has used Tabo, tell us at [email protected] and we will remove the data.
9.Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as Tabo grows. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date above.
If a change is significant — like how your data is shared or used — we will notify you in the app before it takes effect.
